Wyeth’s Upgrade to SEEBURGER’s Global B2B Platform Reduces Costs

Five EDI Support Groups Consolidated into One in B2B Modernization Project ATLANTA (April 29, 2009) - SEEBURGER Inc. announced today that Wyeth’s deployment of the SEEBURGER Business Integration Server (BIS) as part of a B2B modernization project has reduced costs and streamlined B2B operations for the pharmaceutical company. Use of BIS has enabled Wyeth to consolidate five distributed EDI support groups into one, reduce EDI-related labor costs by 60% and software licensing costs by 20%, shrink existing map requirements for its 600 external trading partners from 600 to 150, and quickly respond to new B2B needs anywhere in the world through the new global EDI support center.

The project is discussed in detail in “How Wyeth Upgraded Its B2B Operations To Support a Global ERP Strategy,” a Forrester Research case study authored by analyst Ken Vollmer with Alex Cullen and Matt Czarnecki. Wyeth launched a search for a new EDI solution to link directly to a new singleinstance SAP ERP system that it rolled out to replace multiple globally distributed J.D. Edwards installations. The company selected SEEBURGER over four other B2B gateway providers because of factors including SEEBURGER’s ability to support multi-tenancy within a single instance of the software as well as store parameters at the individual partner level. Multi-tenancy was essential because of Wyeth’s need to segregate data for its different lines of business, while SEEBURGER’s process mapping strategy supported Wyeth’s goal of consolidating translation maps.

Wyeth’s experience showcases the potential of newer EDI platforms to provide increased business agility, simplify use and support, and equip enterprises with new functionality and integration capabilities through service-oriented architecture (SOA) and business process management (BPM) capabilities, according to Forrester.
